    Enhancing the Role of Palestinian Women in Civic and Environmental Reform

    Arab-women in Israel suffer compounded discrimination both as women and as a national minority. The vast majority of these women are unemployed housewives devoid of civic awareness and access to the public sphere. To address this issue, MEPI grantee The Galilee Society implemented “Raising the Frame: Enhancing the Role of Palestinian Women in Civic and Environmental Reform.”

    MEPI: Enhancing Proper and Ethical Governance in Israeli-Arab Municipalities

    The Movement for Quality Government (MQG) in Israel, an independent NGO and grassroots public watchdog organization, unveiled and sponsored litigation on several incidents of corruption and malfeasance in Israeli-Arab municipalities, through a project entitled “The Municipal Project: Making Israeli-Arab Local Governments Accountable and Transparent”.MQG submitted various petitions on various malfeasance cases in Israeli- Arab local municipalities and promoted the exposure and elimination of corruption in governmental institutions, by informing the authorities, such as the State Comptroller and the Police, and demanding their investigation.

    Manarah Association for the Advancement of the Arab Blind in Israel published the second edition of its Arabic biannual 32 page-magazine “Manarat” funded by a MEPI grant. The magazine addresses a wide range of topics of concern to blind and disabled people from Arab communities in Israel.

    Advancing Women's Participation in the Negev Region

    Shatil, is a MEPI-funded project that advances women's participation in the Negev region of Israel. Working directly with Bedouin women's organizations, the project hosts interactive roundtables and public discussions to promote greater awareness among the community - including men - of the rights and potential of Bedouin women.
