About us

The MEPI Regional Offices in Tunis and Abu Dhabi, with both American and local staff, are a concrete demonstration of the U.S. Government’s commitment to a long-term effort in supporting reform across the Middle East and North Africa. 

Democratic reform, if it is to succeed, unquestionably must be homegrown and reflect the unique characteristics of the region.  The MEPI Regional Offices directly engage with indigenous reformers on the ground, listen to their needs and priorities, help craft programs that support them, and coordinate and oversee program implementation. 

Finally, the Regional Offices actively engage in public outreach to increase understanding of U.S. support for reform across the region.
