Egyptian Women Empowered to Have a Role in Politics
Empowering Egyptian women to have a role in politics is the aim of MEPI Local Grant recipient OFOQ for Consultancies and Research in the project "Strengthening Democracy: Women’s Political Empowerment.” Through this project, OFOQ is providing training to a cadre of 120 female candidates who intend to run for public office in the upcoming parliamentary and local council elections in Egypt.

MEPI Project Builds Lebanese Women’s Marketable Skills
Through its partnership with MEPI, the Lebanon Family Planning Association (LFPA) is supporting and empowering a group of Lebanese women from five villages in Hasbaya Casa, South Lebanon. The LFPA’s goal is to improve the social and economic situation of this group of women.

Local Grant Project Strengthens Lebanese Women Leaders
In partnership with MEPI, the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA- Tripoli) is supporting Lebanese women recently elected to public office in the district of Akkar. YMCA engaged the women in a series of training sessions to introduce them to the current municipality law. The training sessions also included sessions on leadership skills and drafting proposals for small-scale projects targeting youth and environmental issues.

Youth Have A Voice
Through its partnership with MEPI, the Voices of Lebanese Women (VLM) is empowering 40 Lebanese youth (aged 12-21) of diverse denominational backgrounds. VLM has engaged the youth in a series of training courses and real life applications of the values of tolerance, compromise, teamwork, citizenship, freedom of expression, democracy, non-violence and non-discrimination.

Palestinian-Israeli Women for Change
MEPI partner the Israel-Palestine Center for Research and Information (IPCRI) is empowering women and providing them with a framework to develop and enhance their roles as peacekeepers both in their own communities and at the national level. Through the MEPI Local Grant project “Women Empowered for Peace” IPCRI brought together 100 Israeli and Palestinian women from three peripheral areas to attend a two-day Open Space Technology workshop.

Learn, Participate, Go on
On November 15th MEPI partner Siza Nabarawy Center for Law and Women's Rights in Egypt launched a three-day workshop entitled “Learn, Participate, Go on.” The workshops come as part of the project “Horizons: An Initiative for Enhancing Egyptian Women’s Political Participation”. The three-day workshop focused on promoting women’s political participation in North Sinai, specifically in El-Arish and Sheikh Zawid. The first session was moderated by Mr. Sherif Helaly, human rights activist and the Director of the Arab Foundation for Supporting Civil Society and Human Rights.

EFRR organizes a training for refugee groups
On September 27-29, the Egyptian Foundation for Refugee Rights (EFRR) hosted a three-day training workshop "Lessons Learned from Civil Society Practices". A number of twenty-seven participants representing Refugee Community Based Organizations, Refugee Initiatives and Leaders from Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Iraq and the Palestinian Territories participated in the workshop.
